The News Corporation Building at 1211 Avenue of the Americas, a prestigious 45-story building in Midtown Manhattan, is undergoing a significant modernization of 35 elevators. BOCA Group was selected as the vertical transportation consultant for this project.

The first phase of the modernization has successfully been completed! Before starting any design work, BOCA Group conducted a thorough evaluation of 10 elevators’ machines and motors, helping to define part of the project’s scope. Once a contractor was awarded the job, work began with an installation of a destination dispatch overlay using the contractor’s latest technology. A key goal of this project was to improve energy efficiency, and the building qualified and successfully received an energy rebate from Con Edison. 

Among other features, the project includes a complete redesign of all the cab interiors, designed by KPF and installed by CEC.

Not only did BOCA Group provide design services, but their expertise was part of the bid/award and submittal phases and is now part of the ongoing construction phase. Simultaneously with the elevator project, the building is undergoing a lobby renovation. BOCA Group is supporting the coordination with the lobby project and ensuring code compliance throughout the elevator modernization.
