Due to the significant quantity of acceptance test requests, the NYC Department of Buildings (DOB) has approved a pilot program, starting June 1, 2025, that will allow licensed third party agencies (such as BOCA Group) to witness, supervise, and ultimately sign-off on these tests in place of the DOB. They are allowing this process to be done on modernizations, repairs, and new installations, and they have established guidelines and paperwork for all of this to happen.  As of now, the DOB is allowing this program to run until December 31, 2025.  However, they reserve the right to end the program early, extend the program, or amend the requirements at any time.
