Richard (Rick) is the President and founder of BOCA Group International and has been in the vertical transportation business since 1982.  His knowledge of the elevator industry is unsurpassed, and his continued efforts to improve vertical transportation systems for his clients make him a proven leader in his field.  Under Rick's leadership since its inception in 1995, BOCA Group has earned the confidence of hundreds of clients within its nine regional offices in major cities throughout the United States, serving thousands of elevator and escalator systems.

 

Rick acts as the business developement Principal for the firm.  Over the course of his leadership at BOCA Group, he has expanded the national client list to nearly all major real estate management and ownership groups.  Rick also takes direct responsibility for overseeing large local accounts in each region.  Throughout the history of BOCA Group, Rick has greatly increased the BOCA client roster, delivering top-rated national, regional and local account customer service and technical efficiency.

 

Rick also acts as Co-Principal of the BOCA Group Project Management Division.  In this capacity he utlizes the rapidly growing BOCA Group client base to integrate project management services in both new construction and modernization in some of the largest and most prestigious properties throughout the country.  Having developed a unique project management "blueprint" in conjunction with AIA contract guidelines, BOCA Group, under Rick's auspices, continues to protect its clients in base-building infrastructure/core and shell, façade restoration, corporate interiors, lobby renovations, residential buildings and elevator turn-key construction projects.

 

Relevant Experience

  • Prior to founding BOCA Group, Rick held the position of Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Flynn-Hill Elevators which was later purchased by KONE, Inc., one of the top four elevator manufacturers in the United States.
  • Rick has significant experience dealing with architects, real estate owners, managers and public agencies and understands and fulfills their specific concerns and demands.
  • Rick received his formal education from Hunter College and New Paltz University.

Dan has spent his entire career with BOCA Group.  Dan joined the company in 1996 while he was completing his Master’s Degree studies at Columbia University.  Dan is a principal of BOCA Group International and a Licensed Professional Engineer in the States of New York and California.  In his current position as Executive Vice President, Dan oversees the engineering and operations for the Northeast Region directly, and provides coordination in these areas throughout the company.

 

In addition to being a Professional Engineer, Dan has a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Columbia University.  Dan is also a Notary Public in the State of New York, and is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.

Sam joined BOCA Group in 1999 to manage all of the company’s major construction projects, after managing several large commercial development projects in the New York and New Jersey region for a large construction management firm.  He also previously managed all construction projects for MetLife’s New York City properties, providing support to both landlord and tenants for millions of square feet of class ‘A’ commercial property.  Sam is currently the principal in charge of BOCA Group’s Project Management Division, which handles many different types of projects through in-depth knowledge and experience.

 

Sam holds a Master’s degree in civil engineering with a concentration in project management and has been involved with the construction and engineering industries since graduating from Rutgers University in 1994.

Steve has almost 30 years experience in the elevator industry.  Steve has worked for various contractors in the New York region, working his way through the ranks to hold the position of Modernization Manager for a major New York City elevator company.  Steve has a wealth of hands-on elevator and escalator experience, having worked on almost every type of equipment over his long career in the field.

 

Steve came to BOCA Group in 2001, and was promoted to Vice President of Field Operations soon thereafter.  As a principal, Steve provides direction and support for all field personnel, insuring that a consistent product is delivered nationwide.  Steve is a Qualified Elevator Inspector (QEI), and is a "professional in charge" in Washington, DC and Florida, and is a licensed inspector and agency director in New York City.

Frank Campise has been in the vertical transportation industry for 10years.  Frank’s background includes experience with two major elevator contractors in estimating and sales capacities on a district level.  Frank also has experience as an assistant property manager for a well-known property management firm. 

 

Frank joined BOCA Group in 2002, and is currently a principal of the company, serving as Vice President of the Central and Southern US.  He is responsible for sales and field operations in these areas.  Frank is a Qualified Elevator Inspector (QEI), and has a BA in Business and Architecture from University of Texas at Arlington.  Frank is also a member of several industry groups, including the National Association of Elevator Safety Authorities (NAESA) and BOMA.

Matt Ensley has almost 20 years experience in the vertical transportation industry.  Matt joined Motion Control Engineering only four years after the company was formed.  Matt worked in many areas with the startup company, including R&D, technical support, and production.  It was his role as executive in charge of sales, however, that had the most profound impact.  Under Matt’s leadership, MCE’s annual sales grew 2000% over a 12 year period.  Matt’s industry knowledge, experience, and wide base of contacts helped the company grow into one of the industry’s largest suppliers.

 

In 2001, Matt left MCE to join BOCA Group and head up the company’s expansion to the West Coast.  Matt is currently the principal in charge of sales and field operations for the Western United States.   Matt has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Sacramento State University, and is a Qualified Elevator Inspector (QEI).  Matt is also a member of several professional organizations, including BOMA, NAEC and APPA.

Sean Colgan entered the elevator industry in 1998 with Motion Control Engineering, a major industry supplier of solid state controls and other modernization equipment.  After holding various roles in engineering and project management, Sean assumed the title of General Manager of Services in 1999.  In this position, Sean was in charge of field service, field engineering, technical support, customer service, project management and parts sales. 

 

Sean left MCE in 2005 to join BOCA Group as Vice President of Operations for the Western United States.  Sean is currently the principal in charge of engineering and operations for the Western Region.  Sean also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering/Engineering Management from Stanford University.

Ed Pleban joined the elevator industry in 1982.   He has held a variety of sales and management positions for Westinghouse Electric, Houston Elevator, Millar Elevator, and Schindler Elevator.  Internationally, Ed was the Product Line Manager for Existing Installations for Schindler in the United Kingdom.

 

Ed joined BOCA Group in 2005 as the Director of National Business Operations.  He is responsible for both the Midwest and the Southeast Regions, along with coordinating the activities for BOCA’s national account clients.  Ed holds a Bachelor of Science from Penn State University, did his MBA work at the University of St. Thomas, and received an MS from the University of Colorado.

Entering the elevator industry in 1970 with Dover Elevator Company, Alan has held a variety of sales, service and management positions in several prominent elevator companies such as Millar Elevator Serivces.

Alan joined BOCA Group in 2007 as Regional Manager for the Southeast.  Alan is proficient in blueprint drawings to determine proper equipment applications and has extensive experience in existing equipment surveys to determine equipment life, deficiencies and upgrade requirements/replacements.
